ReBuild is an international capacity-building project in the field of vocational education and training (VET), fostering collaboration between EU countries (Italy, Austria, Poland) and non-Erasmus+ countries in Eastern Europe (Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia). The project aligns with the EU’s Green Deal and Digital Decade goals, addressing urgent challenges in the construction industry, such as climate resilience, the transition to a circular economy, and workforce development. The construction sector, as the second-largest industrial ecosystem in the EU, plays a crucial role in achieving the 2050 climate neutrality targets. ReBuild supports this transition by integrating sustainable and energy-efficient solutions into VET curricula.
The initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of VET providers, enhance training quality, and improve the responsiveness of the construction sector to green and digital transitions.
Key ReBuild objectives:
Strengthening cooperation between EU and Eastern Partnership countries.
Transferring best practices for rebuilding areas affected by disasters and conflicts.
Improving the skills of VET trainers through digital tools, MOOCs, and training programs.
Engaging the private sector in sustainable reconstruction efforts.
Facilitating international exchange programs for VET trainers and staff.
ReBuild is particularly relevant for regions facing infrastructure vulnerabilities due to war or natural disasters:
Ukraine – Reconstruction efforts focus on rebuilding homes, infrastructure, and industries affected by war while incorporating sustainable building practices.
Moldova – Due to seismic risks and frequent floods, the project promotes resilient construction methods to improve disaster preparedness.
Georgia – Addressing seismic hazards and urban redevelopment, ReBuild supports modernization efforts while enhancing sustainability in the construction sector.
Enhancing VET Training – Equipping trainers with innovative teaching methods and expanding their course offerings.
Sustainability & Decarbonization – Preparing workers to adapt buildings for a carbon-neutral future.
Industry Collaboration – Strengthening ties between VET institutions and construction companies to align training with labor market needs.
International Knowledge Exchange – Facilitating study visits, workshops, and Memorandums of Understanding for cross-border cooperation.
Digital Transformation – Developing online learning platforms (MOOCs) to ensure continuous access to training resources.
